5 ways to use avocado oil for your skin

First up, we take a look at how avocado oil benefits the skin.

How to use avocado oil for your skin

There are several ways to use avocado oil on your skin. The easiest method is to get pure organic avocado oil and massage it directly into your skin. It can also be rubbed into the face, but keep in mind that avocado oil has a medium comedogenic rating, so it may have the tendency to clog pores.

Another way to use avocado oil for your skin, and is the method that we recommend, is to find a soothing skincare product that’s infused with avocado oil, like our healing balm. This pairs organic avocado oil with other soothing & healing ingredients like vitamin E oil and full-spectrum hemp, providing you with a holistic approach.

1. Use avocado oil for chapped skin

Chapped skin is often the result of eczema or psoriasis, but it can also appear after living in a dry climate for a while. Avocado oil is a heavy and thick moisturizer, making it super effective for more intense dryness. Also, the vitamins and antioxidants from avocados offer additional nutritional skin support to assist with eczema. To achieve the greatest effects, massage it into your skin after a warm bath or shower to enable it to thoroughly absorb. The oil will sink deeper into your skin providing the best results.

2. Use avocado oil as a facial moisturizer

The epidermis is the skin’s outermost layer. When applied to the skin, antioxidants and nutrients from the avocado oil are quickly absorbed by the epidermis. The skin on your face absorbs these nutrients, keeping your skin moisturized and healthy while also encouraging the creation of new skin cells.

3. Avocado oil can help prevent and treat acne

Acne-related redness and inflammation can be reduced by using avocado oil, which contains anti-inflammatory effects. To use avocado oil to cure acne, gently massage it into the skin, leaving it on for about 30 seconds before rinsing with warm water. You may need to experiment with the amount of time you keep the oil on your face.

4. Use avocado oil as an anti-aging cream

Avocados are full of healthy fats, so eating them can actually help to support the suppleness of your skin. The same is true for using avocado oil on your skin. The thick, moisturizing nature of avocado oil can help to minimize the appearance of crow’s feet and other wrinkles on the face. Studies have also shown that avocado oil may stimulate collagen production, which is another reason it can help with aging and fine lines or wrinkles.

5. Avocado oil helps heal wounds faster

The fatty acids (linoleic acid, oileic acid, monosaturated fatty acids) in avocado oil have been found to help reduce inflammation and thus speed up the healing process. As stated above, fatty acids in avocado oil have been shown to help the skin generate new tissue faster by promoting collogen synthesis. While this helps with wrinkles, it also helps open wounds to heal more quickly and efficiently.

5 benefits of avocado oil for your hair

The powerful avocado can make your hair stronger and brighter while taming the frizz. Avocados are full of hair-supporting nutrients such as: Vitamins A, B, and E, Antioxidants, Biotin and folate, Minerals, Fatty acids

6. Use avocado oil for hair growth

If you’re looking for increased hair growth, try massaging a dime-sized amount of avocado oil into your scalp. Avocado oil can help unblock clogged follicles while stimulating blood flow. For an extra punch and a more luxurious feel, add a few drops of lavender or peppermint essential oil. Both of these have been known to support hair growth as well. Your scalp should absorb all the oil. If you happen to use too much, simply gently wash your hair to remove any unabsorbed oil.

7. Use avocado oil as a leave-in conditioner

Massage a dime-sized amount of avocado oil to the ends of your hair, working your way up to your roots. Leave it in. It may take some time for your hair to fully absorb the oil. So if your hair looks a bit oily at first, give it some time to absorb. If it still looks oily an hour later, try using less next time. Caution: Do not apply heat to your hair until the oil is dry and completely absorbed.

8. Use avocado oil as a detangler

If your hair is tangled and you’re having a hard time brushing or combing, add a few drops of oil to where your hair is tangled. The oil will make detangling easier while protecting your hair from damage.

9. Hot oil treatment

To support deeper oil absorption in your hair, try warming the oil. You can warm the oil by placing the desired amount of oil in a glass jar. Follow this process:

  • Place the jar in a bowl of hot water, allowing the oil to heat up.
  • Massage the oil evenly from roots to ends. (Test the oil to be sure it’s not too hot before applying)
  • Wrap your hair in a towel.
  • Allow the oil to sit for 20 minutes.
  • Then wash the oil out.

10. Use avocado oil to reduce dandruff

Using avocado oil on the scalp can help reduce and prevent dandruff. Dandruff occurs when the scalp is dry. So moisturizing the skin with a nutrient-rich oil such as avocado oil can help prevent flaking.
