Last month I posted a sugar scrub recipe with you and received wonderful feedback. The scrub was created by Naomi Edwards, Holistic Health Practitioner specializing in aromatherapy, Ayurveda, and yoga. She’s also the founder of Hillabrant Holistics.

Naomi has given me permission to share her incredibly inspirational story.

Naomi group up as a prodigy athlete with many years of competitive swimming and ballet. Unfortunately, it resulted in chronic injuries to her shoulders, feet, and hips. Additionally, she developed a nutritional dysfunction to keep her weight down and a body image complex.

“I saw my body as a machine and had no connection to it at all. I was constantly telling it to go harder and push through any pain,” says Naomi.

At age 20, she was exhausted and over-worked. By chance, she enrolled in her first yoga class in college. She didn’t know it then, but that seemingly inconsequential yoga class changed the trajectory of her life. It was a gift to herself– her mind, body, and spirit.

For the first time, I experienced movement in a way that was joyful, patient, loving, and kind to my body. Yoga inspired me to eat better and take better care of myself in all areas of my life, “says Naomi.

Around this time, Naomi experienced a tragedy. Her father unexpectedly passed away. He suffered from gum disease. The bacteria traveled to his heart, and he suffered a heart attack. He passed away within hours.

To grieve and heal, Naomi traveled to India. It’s there that she learned about Ayurveda. According to Naomi, Ayurveda is the ‘sister science’ to yoga; yoga is a prescribed as a treatment.

Learning & Healing

She traveled to India to grieve and heal. While there, she found Ayurveda medicine and realized her new path– to teach others about wellness and preventive health.

She dove into learning Ayurveda and then she had an epiphany. Naomi realized she needed to share Ayurvedic knowledge of preventive health to others.

All the while, Naomi focused energy on resolving unprocessed matters surrounding body image and food. She worked on grieving the loss of her father while holding onto his memory.

In addition to aromatherapy, Ayurveda, and yoga, Naomi also incorporates CBD for holistic health.

Each morning she practices, Abhyanga, an Ayurvedic self-massage. She uses warm hemp-infused tincture, sesame oil, essential oils, and infused with herbs.

Before her evening meditation, she consumes a CBD ginger tincture as part of her nightly ritual.

“Jenny’s CBD Ginger Tincture is a beautiful herbal blend that I love to take before my evening meditation. It sets the tone for my winding down rituals...” says Naomi.

Since Naomi’s father passed away from issues related to gum disease, it’s important for her to make every effort to maintain oral health. Every day she performs ‘oil pulling’ with CBD coconut oil. It’s an Ayurvedic practice that is common in Western culture. It is the technique of swishing oil in the mouth for up to 20 minutes.

This practice has been used for thousands of years.

I love to use Jenny’s CBD Coconut oil for my (oil) pulling routine. It’s cooling, anti-inflammatory, whitens teeth, freshens the breath, and moisturizes the mouth while drawing out toxins,” says Naomi.

Transformation

Naomi tells me the teacher she is today is rooted in the intention to guide people back to a connection with their true selves and their bodies.

“Our bodies have the innate ability to heal, we need to feed and trust our bodies at a cellular level…It is my intention and honor to support people in a way that moves them to take ownership of their health maintenance,” she says.

Her metamorphosis is the epitome of holistic– emotional, psychological, physical, and spiritual. She’s a true inspiration.
